About Me

My name is Shannon McCelvey Page.  I am currently the Coordinator of Web Development at East Texas Baptist University. The highlights of my job are working with professors to implement tools and ideas in their classes that help students understand concepts better. Additionally, I assist with course evaluations and assess learning outcomes related to professional growth. Most notably, I was hired to 'roll-out' a new website for the Marketing Department and train faculty and staff on how to use it. The CMS we currently use is Drupal and this is after making the switch from Concrete 5. For about six months I maintained content on two separate sites before we were able to make the final changeover. Overall, I believe that the employees have enjoyed the design and feel of the new site.

As a former instructional designer in a high school environment with three years of experience, I would love to be considered for this unique opportunity. In my current role as Web Development Coordinator, I work closely with the Deans of Schools to make sure that the online learning classes are unique and accessible as well as visually appealing and meet our marketing standards.

I love being creative and making use of many of the tools in the Adobe Suite to make standard graphics attention-grabbing. Additionally, I enjoy blending those tools with screen recorders like Camtasia to create How To videos and other tutorials. At the Hallsville ISD Virtual School, I used Articulate Storyline to create mobile lessons for Kindergarten students through 12th grade. I loved using Storyline, but I also hope to one day create content using Adobe Captivate since I am such an Adobe nerd.

Currently, I spend a lot of time in Canvas, the preferred LMS for East Texas Baptist University. Many of our lessons are incorporated in Canvas without a presentation software like Storyline, but I try to implement videos when allowed by University standards. In my prior role in Hallsville, I used Google Classroom, D2L, Moodle, Blackboard, and a lesser known LMS called Docebo. I am willing to learn and use any LMS that serves the students.

In addition to my experience, I hold a Master of Education. I currently hold a Principal’s certification which has assisted me in creating classes that both administrators and learners understand and find accessible. Originally, I planned to focus on curriculum and instruction as that is my passion, but found this to be a better fit with what I was doing at the time. I might pursue an additional master’s in the future for Curriculum Design as I still find that interests me. I have a love of learning and furthering my education.

I possess excellent project management and team leadership skills, and I love to develop and implement new processes that streamline workflows. It may take a little while to figure out the best and most efficient way to make something happen, but I can usually streamline even the most tedious tasks.

I strive to fit in to the culture that I am part of. I believe that every new employee should conduct an upfront 'needs assessment' as to what the team needs and make sure to approach it carefully and respectfully. It's my goal to be a lifelong learner and to add something to each environment I am lucky enough to be a part of and also take something away.

My three favorite parts of my job are all about creating. I love to design, write copy, and also organize content in a meaningful and creative way.

I hope you enjoy my site.

Thanks,

Shannon
